Elwin Legrand Eaddy

Elwin Legrand Eaddy 85, of Rockingham, died Monday, November 05, 2012 at his home. Elwin was born December 6, 1926, in Lake City, SC to the late George Franklin and Ila Victoria Williams Eaddy. He was a member of the US Army as a Mortuary Escort. He was a devoted member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, Youth Minister and the Prison Outreach Minister for twenty years. Elwin was recognized by Gov. Jim Hunt for his work with the prison outreach. Elwin attended Faith Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his brother George Franklin Eaddy. Mr. Eaddy worked for Carolina Paper Mill for thirty years and worked for the NCDOT until his retirement. Mr. Eaddy is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Jean Phillips Eaddy and son David Gene Eaddy both of the home, sisters Rennie Watts and Sarah Caudle both of Rockingham. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 11:00 am at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Richmond County 1119 U.S. 1 Rockingham, NC 28379.
