Roberta Poythress Gibson

Roberta Poythress Gibson, 88, of Richmond Pines Retirement Center Hamlet , formerly of McIntyre Road, Ellerbe died Thursday November 8, 2012 in Sandhills Regional Hospital, Hamlet. Mrs. Gibson was born January 29, 1924 in Lexington, NC, a daughter of the late Leroy P. and Bertha Caulder Poythress. She was a homemaker and worked as a spinner for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Lester Gibson, Sr. and a grandchild Roy Anthony “Tony” Gibson. She is survived by her son Roy L. Gibson, Jr. and wife Dana of Ellerbe; her daughters Carolyn Porter and husband Bobby of Laurinburg and Linda Gibson of Hamlet; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren and a sister Virginia Maynor of Kannapolis. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg. The family will receive friends following service and at other times at 281 McIntyre Road, Ellerbe.
