John E Goodwin

Mr. John E. Goodwin, 57, passed away from this life Sunday, January 13, 2008 at his home. He was born May 30, 1950 in Anson County, a son of the late Fred Robert and Eva Goodwin. He was a graduate of Rockingham High School, Class of 1970 and had worked with Perdue Farms. He was a beloved father, grandfather and husband. The joy of his life was his grandchildren. His son, John E. Goodwin, Jr. preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife Glenda Vuncannon Goodwin of the home, his daughter, Shannon Goodwin Gathings and husband Tony of Hamlet, three brothers, Leo, Randy and Fred Robert Goodwin, Jr. all of Rockingham, a sister, Mary Lou Hodges of Lilesville and 5 grandchildren, Kaylee, Torie, Buster, Brittany and Taylor Gathings of Hamlet. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Outreach for Jesus with Bishop Marvin Taylor and Rev. Bobby Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary/Rock of Ages Church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Outreach for Jesus.
