Elijah Conyers

Mr. Elijah Conyers, 87, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Liberty Health Care of Charlotte. He was born September 30, 1920 in Richmond County, a son of the late Jim and Johnnie Conyers. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during WW II in Okinawa. He was proud to be a Marine. He worked as a supervisor at Aleo Mfg. Company before retiring. Mr. Conyers loved dancing on the weekends at most of the local VFW’s and Moose Lodges. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Frances Conyers and his second wife of 15 years Lucille Conyers. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Richmond County Memorial Park with Rev. Frank McQuage officiating. He is survived by two sons, Darrell Conyers and wife Betty of Charlotte and Larry Conyers and wife Johnsie of Rockingham and a daughter, Sylvia C. Browning and husband Robert of Johns Island SC. Six Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham from 6:00-8:00 pm.
