Michael Leverne Collins, 53, of Norman, died Monday, November 26, 2012. Mike was born September 17, 1959 in Richmond County, a son of Doris Vivian Sills Collins and the late Charles Leverne Collins. He was a strong businessman, serving the community 365 days a year, as owner and operator of Norman General Store. He loved farming, gardening and his goats. He was the devoted husband to his wife of 34 years, Tonia Stewart Collins; beloved father of Michael Leverne “Mikey” Collins, Jr and Mechele Nicole Collins; beloved DeDe to his granddaughter Emily Collins and beloved Papa to his grandchildren Alexander, Christopher, Hailey and Madison Collins. Also surviving are his mother, Doris Collins of Rockingham; brothers, Albert Collins of Ether, James Collins of Rockingham and sister, Sharon Black of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at Norman United Methodist Church with Revs. Dena White, Robert Carpenter and Roger Paxton officiating. Interment will follow in the Norman Cemetery. The family will see friends from 10 – 10:45 am Saturday in the fellowship hall of Norman United Methodist Church and at other times at the home.
