Edith Shaw McAuley was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Edith was born July 5, 1923 in Stanly County, NC, a daughter of the late Harry Price and Cora Caudle Shaw. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1940 and was the co-founder of McAuley’s Plant Farm in Ellerbe. Edith was a member of Rourk Presbyterian Church and was active in the work of the church until her health declined. She loved and cherished her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leroy McAuley, sons, Cecil E. and Alton L. McAuley, brothers, Leroy, Ray and Paul Shaw and sister Ophelia Stutts. Surviving are her daughters, Brenda M. Mitchell (Bill) of Rockingham, and S. Dell McAuley of Ellerbe; daughter-in-law, Dianne McAuley of Ellerbe, and a brother, H. P. Shaw of Rockingham. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Greg McAuley (Amy) of Ellerbe, Dana Lindsay (Michael) of Clinton, Hope McAuley of Pinehurst, Adam McAuley of Norman, Tommy Mitchell (Aprille) of Concord, and Brian Mitchell of Rockingham; great-grandchildren, Miranda McAuley, Bailey Mitchell, Erin Mitchell, Brooke McKay, Daniel McKay, Katelyn O’Neal, Cody McAuley, Tiffany Pinion, Brandon Smith, and Kara Primus, and great great-granddaughter, Molly Primas. A service to celebrate the life of Edith McAuley will be held at 2 pm Friday, November 30, 2012 at Rourk Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 1 to 1:45pm Friday at the church and at other times at the Mitchell home, 112 Pinedale Dr., Rockingham.
