Mrs. Annie Mae Webb Martin, 79, of 353 John Webb Road, Ellerbe, passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Martin was born August 14, 1928 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie Crouch Webb. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School and a member of Roberdel Baptist Church. Mrs. Martin had been employed by Stanley Furniture Company, J.P. Stevens Company, and was the owner and operator of Martin’s Amoco on Biltmore Drive in Rockingham for many years. On March 21, 1954, she married Garland Martin who preceded her in death in 2003. Her brothers and sisters, Henry Webb, Mary Norton, Sarah Bowles, James Webb and Jessie Wayne Webb, preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Wanda and Abner Garris of Ellerbe, grandsons, Capt. William Abner Garris, Jr and wife Teresa of Davenport, Iowa, CPO Robert Garris and wife Cindy of Jacksonville, Fl., great grandchildren, Danielle, Caleb, Haleigh, Kyleigh and Ashlin Garris, her brother and sister in law, Jim and Pat Webb of Ellerbe and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Roberdel Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Smith, Rev. Jerry Turner and Rev. David Crumpler officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 –8:00 PM Wednesday at the church and at other times at the home on John Webb Rd. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice 1119 US Hwy 1 North Rockingham, NC 28379 or the American Cancer Society 6000 Fairview Rd. Charlotte, NC 28210. She instilled in us to care for others by example because she was always taking care of someone else.
