Albert Franklin Ludlum, 77, of 582 Gibson Nursery Rd. Ellerbe, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Tara Plantation in Carthage. Mr. Ludlum was born June 17, 1930 in Richmond County, a son of the late Ruven Dewey Ludlum and the late Ruth Lynn Ludlum White. He was a former member and deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Rockingham, a member and deacon of Rourk Presbyterian Church in Ellerbe. He had retired from Pee Dee Electric Company and was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Ludlum. Surviving are his wife of 58 1/2 years Shirley Terry Ludlum of the home, sons, Albert Franklin Ludlum, Jr and wife Wanda of Rockingham, Jerry Wayne Ludlum and wife Evelyn of Hamlet, Tony Scott Ludlum and wife Bonnie of Scotland Neck, daughter, Patricia Ruth Smith and husband Milton of Rockingham, grandchildren, Nikkie Mabe, Josh Ludlum, Amanda Ludlum, Adam Ludlum, Shelby Ludlam, Sydney Ludlum and Corey Smith, 5 great grandchildren, brother, William Ludlum of Florida, and sisters, Alberta Freeman and Betty Dawkins, both of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Rourk Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Gibson Nursery Rd.
