Johnsie M. Carriker

Johnsie Mae Canipe Carriker, 91, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Rockingham Manor. Mrs. Carriker was born December 20, 1920 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Frank and Johnsie Lassiter Canipe. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and former owner of Mayfair Beauty Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Whiteford O. Carriker. Surviving are her son, W.O. “Shorty” Carriker, Jr. and wife Cynthia “Libby” of Rockingham; grandchildren, Ryan Carriker, Shannon Carriker, and Jason Carriker; great-grandchildren, Christian Lambert, Madison Carriker, Braden Carriker, Loki Carriker and Arius Carriker; and her sister, Lucille Goodwin of Rockingham. A service to celebrate the life of Johnsie Carriker will be held at Noon Thursday in the Richmond Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will see friends following the service at the Mausoleum and at other times at the Carriker home, 200 Fran Rd., Rockingham.
