Rachel Nelson Wright

Rachel Nelson Wright, 80, of Mt. Gilead, passed away Wednesday, January 02, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Wright was born July 21, 1932 in Stokes County, a daughter of the late William and Della Alley Nelson. She was a member of Stoney Fork Baptist Church and a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1951. She was a counselor with Samarcand Manor for many years and following her retirement was a substitute teacher. Preceding her in death were sons, Otis Lee Richardson, II and Philip Hunter Richardson and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her husband, Richard Wright of the home; sons, Steve Richardson of Rockingham, Tim Richardson of Laurinburg, John Wright of Mt. Gilead; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday, January 4, 2013, in the Ellerbe Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Burris officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
