James Anderson Greene

James Anderson Greene, 65, of 286 Church Street ,Ellerbe died early Friday morning at his home with his immediate family by his side. Mr. Greene was born February 8, 1947 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Mason Anderson “Bun” Greene and Molly Bertha Macon Greene. He was a farmer and had retired from the NC Department of Transportation after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie Batten Greene of the home, sons; Steve Greene and wife Laura of Rockingham, Jimmy Greene and wife Kellee of Ellerbe, a sister Josephine Parsons of Mt. Gilead, grandchildren, Meggan(Andrew) Snead, Heather(Michael) Pack, Brittany Greene, Savanna Greene, Molly Greene, great grandchildren, James Michael Pack and Jacey Nicole Pack. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jimmy “Drew” Anderson II, brothers, William, Robert, Lonnie, Garrett, sisters, Annie Mae Griffin and Geneva Webb. A service to celebrate the life of James A. Greene will be conducted 11 AM. Monday January 7, 2013 at Southside Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Jacobs, Rev. Jimmy Tennant and Rev. Zeb Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-8PM at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe.
