Hiram Lewis Braswell

Hiram Lewis Braswell, 84, formerly of Ellerbe passed away, Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Kannapolis, NC. Mr. Braswell was born in Union County, NC on September 14, 1928 to the late Oscar C. and Cassie Baucom Braswell. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. After serving in the US Navy, Lewis worked at Cannon Mills as a cloth room inspector for fifteen years and later retired from Braswell's Grocery in Ellerbe, NC. He is preceded in death by his wife Jewel Scarboro Braswell and a brother Edsel “Buck” Braswell. He is survived by a daughter Vickie Brewer an husband Larry of Davidson, NC, grandchildren Jennifer Childers and husband Jason and Bradley Michael Brewer of Kannapolis and a brother Doyle Braswell and wife Gloria of Homestead, FL and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday January 27, 2013 at 1:45pm - 2:45pm at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe, NC. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00pm in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery in Mt. Gilead, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 136 Wallace Rd, Ellerbe, NC 28338.
