Funeral services for Margaret (Peggy) McNair Meacham will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, February 16, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Keith Nanney and Rev. Allison Coltrane officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Mrs. Meacham died Wednesday, February 13th at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Born August 8, 1927 in Hamlet, she was the daughter of the late Robert Terry (Bob) McNair and Margaret McAulay McNair. She graduated from Rockingham High School in 1945 and attended Greensboro College. A homemaker, Mrs. Meacham was married for fifty-six years to the late Charles F. Meacham, Sr. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockingham. Family was very important to her, and all of their individual accomplishments were a source of great pride and delight throughout her life. All who knew her will sorely miss her inner strength, loving heart, and lively sense of humor. Surviving are a son, Charles F. (Chuck) Meacham, Jr. and wife Joan of Rockingham; daughter, Marianne M. Crawford and husband Jim of Cheraw; grandchildren, Amy M. Taylor and husband Shawn and Melanie M. Meacham, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Charles F. (Charlie) Meacham, III of Rockingham, James C. (Jim) Crawford, IV and Cameron M. Crawford, both of Cheraw; and one great granddaughter, Sloan McAuley Taylor. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice Haven for their compassionate care and love shown to Mrs. Meacham and her family while a resident there.
