William Simon Kearse, Sr

Rev. William S. Kearse, Sr., 90, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his home. Rev. Kearse was born May 15, 1922 in Enoree, SC, a son of the late Walsey Simon and Martha Montjoy Kearse. He served his country in the US Coast Guard during World War II and was a Baptist Minister, having pastoredin New Jersey, Pennsylvania and retired from Crestview Baptist Church in 2008 after 33 years of ministry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Henry M. Kearse, and sisters Evelyn Cantrell, Sarah Kearse and June Hoffman. Surviving are his wife, Edythe Marie “Dolly” Kearse; sons, William S. Kearse, Jr., Bryan J. Kearse and Brent L. Kearse; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren brother, Charles Kearse; and sisters Ann Huggins and Norma McKee. Funeral services were held privately.
