Richard Delano Henderson, 79, of Ellerbe, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton. Mr. Henderson was born September 18, 1933 in Richmond County, a son of the late Thomas Absalom and Katie McRae Henderson. He was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, a US Army Veteran and had retired from CSX Railroad. He was an active member of Ellerbe First Presbyterian Church, PCA, where he had served as a deacon and was Elder Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Foyles Henderson, brothers, Corbett, Tom and Clayton Henderson and sisters, Blanche Lineberry, Elga Mae VunCannon and Betty Wooley. He is survived by his daughter, Regina H. Uribe and husband Derrell of Clinton; granddaughter, Corey Uribe of Clinton; grandson, Richard Uribe of Clinton; brother, Bob Henderson and wife Becky of Ellerbe; in-laws, Ed VunCannon of Ellerbe, Clara Henderson of Lynchburg, VA and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday at Ellerbe First Presbyterian Church, PCA with Rev. James Watson and Rev. Stan Layton officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends Sunday from 2:30 – 3:30 pm at the church and at other times at the home.
