The Angel who walked beside us on this Earth was embraced in the arms of Jesus to watch over us from Heaven. Edith Greene Lamonds, 83, of Rockingham passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Hospice Haven of Rockingham. Mrs. Lamonds was born May 3, 1930 in Montgomery County, a daughter of the late James Daniel and Effie Baucom Greene. For many years she was a hairdresser in Fayetteville. She later graduated cum laude from Pembroke State University and began her teaching career with Richmond County Schools at Rohanen Primary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Lamonds and 5 siblings. Surviving are her children, Libby Reynolds of Rockingham, Kay Edge of Stedman, Glenda Thomas of Bunnlevel, and Daniel Lamonds of Raleigh; 8 grandchildren, including her caregiver of 11 years, Billy Weeks; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Allen Greene of Lilesville, Brooks Greene of Charlotte; and sisters, Julia Knight of Rockingham and Alameda Tucker of Columbia, SC. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville with Rev. Charles Rambeau officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
