Wayne Lee Park, 78, of 141 Gibson Dr. Rockingham, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Park was born May 1, 1929 in Richmond County, a son of the late Norman and Vinnie Frazier Park. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where he had been a member of the choir, president of the Men’s Club, Treasurer, Youth Leader and a Trustee. He had retired from A&P Tea Company after 47 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Doris Webb Park of the home, sons, Rev. Phillip Park of Caroleen, Butch Park and wife Pamela of Rockingham, daughter, Saundra Smith and husband John of Rockingham, a sister, Maxine Coggins of Grafton, VA, grandchildren, Lori Hendershot and husband Billy of Winston-Salem, Tracy Castlebury and husband Michael of Cornelius, Patrick Brian Park of Denver, Dana Dawkins Gathigi and husband John Gathigi Nwgaro of Winston-Salem, Erin Dawkins Suwattana and husband Anasorn of Ching Mai, Thailand, Beth Hall and husband Nick of Rockingham, Josh Park and wife Jessica of Rockingham, Becca Park of Rockingham, great grandchildren, Drew and Hope Hendershot, and Rebekah and Sarah Castlebury. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 –8:30 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on Gibson Dr. Memorials may be made to the Music Fund of Zion United Methodist Church, 123 Zion Church Rd. Rockingham, NC 28379.
