Elmare Snead

Mrs. Elmare G. Snead, 87, of 278 Ledbetter St., Cordova died Monday, April 14, 2008 at Rockingham Manor. She was born February 5, 1921 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Zack and Lucy Jane Brigman Grice. Mrs. Snead was a member of Cordova Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a textile inspector and retired from Sandhurst Hosiery. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 16th at Cordova Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Monroe officiating. Entombment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. Surviving are a daughter, Lucille McNeill of Charlotte; two sons, Daniel M. Snead and John S. Snead, both of Rockingham; a brother, William F. Grice of Carrboro; four sisters, Evelyn Campbell. Lucy Taylor, and Sarah Morrow, all of Rockingham and Mary Eliza Buck of Cordova; thirteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Myrtle Steen and sisters, Anna Lee Hodges, Nellie Jenkins, and Elizabeth Rainwater. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Cordova Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Cordova Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, PO Box 160, Cordova, NC 28330.
