James Kenneth Vance, 73, of Rockingham, on Thursday, July 25, 2013, surrounded by his family, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Mr. Vance was born December 6, 1939 in Lumpkin County, GA, a son of the late Hansel and Cleo Heaton Vance. He was a member of Highland Acres Church of God, where he had served as a deacon and for many years played the Bass Guitar and had been a member of Gideons International. He had been employed with J.P. Stevens Co in the training department and retired as owner and operator of Wilson’s Tire Service. He was the loving husband of Kay Eaddy Vance of the home; loving father of Greg Vance of Rockingham, Jill Vance (Sammy) Ballard, Dana Vance (Randy) Ballard , all of Mebane and papa to Vance Ballard, Mandi Ballard, MacKenzie Ballard and Bryce Ballard. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday at Highland Acres Church of God with Rev. Larry May and Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 5 to 7 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
