Robert Wendell Carraway

Robert Wendell “Gator” Carraway, 76, of Twin Harbor , Mt. Gilead, died Friday August 2, 2013 in First Health Moore Regional Hospital. He was born April 12, 1937 in Richmond County, NC a son of the late John Ezzell and Leeoma Johnson Carraway. He was a veteran of the US Army, He worked in the Nuclear Power industry, helping construct power plants in NC, SC and Florida., later he worked as a driver with Brown Moulding. An active member of the VFW, Robert served as Post Commander for the Henry C. Rancke, Jr. Post. While in Rockingham he attended Roberdel Baptist Church He is survived by his sisters Georgia C. Haywood of Mt. Gilead and Edna Pearl Poppell of Perry Fla. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the church building fund at Twin Harbor Campground 186 Haywood Country Dr, Mount Gilead, NC 27306.
