Lawrence Little "Larry" McInnis, Jr., 64 of Ellerbe, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 following several years of declining health. Larry was born April 16, 1949 in Moore County, a son of Nancy McAlister McInnis and the late Lawrence Little McInnis. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham, where he was active in the young adult group. Larry graduated from Rockingham High School, where he was a stellar football player, active in the school band and a member of the Dramatics Club. He was also a Boy Scout and enjoyed golfing. After attending Wingate College, he worked for David Rice Surveying and North Carolina Natural Gas Company. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were his pastimes. Known as "Maga Daga" to his friends, he will be remembered for his big stature and kind, caring, protective nature. He is survived by his mother, Nancy McAlister McInnis of Rockingham; sister, Susan McInnis Streater and husband Hobbie, of Wadesboro; brothers, Michael McInnis of Jacksonville, NC and Richard McInnis and wife Meredith of Jacksonville, NC; nieces, Maggie Streater and Dare McInnis; nephew, Connor McInnis; aunts,uncles,host of cousins and his beloved dog "Moose". A service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 11am Friday, August 16, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham, with Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives immediately following the service in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, Cemetery Fund, c/o Evon Craven, P.O. Box 265, Ellerbe, NC 28338 or to First Presbyterian Church, 904 Fayetteville Rd., Rockingham, NC 28379 or to the charity of one's choice.
