Gary Goodwin Trexler

Gary Goodwin Trexler, 61 of Rockingham, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Gary was born August 19, 1952 in Mecklenburg County, a son of Myrtle Goodwin Trexler and the late Guy N. Trexler, Jr.. He was a graduate of Rockingham High School, had attended Wingate College and graduated from North Carolina State University. He was a member of Community Church, had worked with Jerry L. Goodwin Co and had retired as plant manager with Sealed Air Corporation. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Guy N. Trexler, III. Surviving are his wife, Susan Speight Trexler of the home; son, Gary G. Trexler, Jr. ( Michelle) ; daughters, Jennifer O’Neal ( Richard) and Jessie Trexler, all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Jakob, Noah and Chloe O’Neal, Colton Trexler; his mother, Myrtle G. Trexler of Rockingham; sister, Terri Williams of Purlear, NC and his beloved dogs, Penny and Dixie and cat Norris. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday at Community Church with Rev. Quinton Covington and Rev. Robbie Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 5 to 7 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Community Church , 193 Mill Rd., Rockingham, NC 28379.
