Milton Ray Smith

Milton Ray Smith, 67, of Cordova, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Milton was born February 2, 1946 in Richmond County, a son of the late Roosevelt and Ola Smith Smith. He was an active member of Cordova United Methodist Church, where he had served on the Finance Committee and had served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He had retired from textiles, having been a department manager at Richmond Yarns and Cheraw Yarns. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Smith. Surviving are his son, Matt Smith of Cordova; grandchildren, Christian, Connor and Devin Smith; a brother, Boyce “Fuzz” Smith of Cordova and a sister, Hazel Smith of Cordova. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday at Cordova United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Griffin officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at Matt’s home.
