Thayer L Cook

Thayer L. “Skeet” Cook, Sr., 74, of Country Canyon Road, Rockingham died September 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 7, 1939 in Darlington, SC a son of the late Roy Lee and Corine Dean Cook. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and had retired from Plant Maintenance at Fruit of the Loom. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his sons on various jobs with Tri Cook Electrical Contractors. He was preceded in death by his brothers Oscar, Don and Luther Cook. A service to celebrate the life of Thayer “Skeet” Cook will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham with Pastor Steve Gilmer officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Garrison Cook of the home, three sons; Thayer L. Cook, Jr.and wife Keri of Rockingham, Michael Dean Cook, Sr. and wife Andrea of Norwood and Jeffery Lee Cook and wife Sherri of Norwood, a daughter Laurie C. Pressley of Rockingham, brothers; Eustus “Bert” Cook and wife Kay of Rockingham, Eugene Cook and wife Minerva of High Point, sisters; Janice Campbell and husband Jack of Rockingham and Faye Howle of Florence, SC. Also surviving are 15 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Rockingham Church of God of Prophecy.
