Ruby Foyles Henderson, 72, of 192 West Page Street, Ellerbe, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Henderson was born October 15, 1935 in Greene County, NC a daughter of the late Hardy and Cora Forrest Foyles. She was a graduate of Snow Hill High School, Class of 1954 and Flora McDonald College, Class of 1958. She taught school for 30 years prior to her retirement; 5 years in Wayne County, 25 years in Richmond County. She accepted Jesus as her Savior as a teenager at Hull Road FWB Church in Greene County. In 1963 she married Richard Henderson and became a member of Ellerbe First Presbyterian Church, PCA. Here she served as WIC President, Circle Chairman, and taught Sunday School most of her life. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard of the home, a daughter, Regina H. Uribe and husband Derrell of Clinton, NC, a granddaughter, Corey Uribe and a grandson, Richard Uribe, both of Clinton, NC, a sister, Nora Frances Moore and husband James of Hampton, VA. Also surviving are nieces, Debbie Adams, Cindy Richmond, and nephew, James Moore, Jr, all of VA, her in-laws, Bob and Becky Henderson, Ed Vuncannon, all of Ellerbe, Clayton and Clara Henderson and Betty Wooly , all of Lynchburg, VA and adopted family friends, Eddie Smith of Meridian Miss, and Donna White of Ellerbe. She considered her students her adopted children and always watched the papers for their accomplishments. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Ellerbe with Rev. James Watson and Rev. Tim Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7:00 – 8:30 PM Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on W.
