Irene Brigman Currie

Irene Brigman Currie, 78, of Ellerbe, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at home. Mrs. Currie was born September 14, 1935 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Lela Mae Turner Brigman. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her children, David Currie of Hamlet, James Currie of Rockingham, Carolyn Thomas of Rockingham, Donna Pope of Little River, SC, Teresa Garrison of Rockingham, Shelby Cobler of Ellerbe, Mary Ann Jeffrey of Hamlet, Joann Hussey of Rockingham; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother, David Brigman of Statesville and sister, Dianne Matteson of Georgetown, KY. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Southside Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Jacobs and Rev. Joe B. Wilkes, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in McDonald Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
