Robert Cecil McDonald

Robert Cecil McDonald, 93, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home. Mr. McDonald was born September 11, 1920 in Richmond County, a son of the late W. Scott and Brevie McDonald McDonald. He had served his country in the US Army during World War II, was a lifelong member of McDonald Baptist Church, and had retired from the US Post Office. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Maner McDonald and a son, Richard Gary “Slim” McDonald. Surviving are sons, Bob McDonald of Hope Mills, Ken McDonald of Rockingham; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and brothers, Ralph and David McDonald, both of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at McDonald Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Tyson officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Memorials may be made to Richmond County/Anson County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N, Rockingham, NC 28379.
