Terrance Odell “Ted” Hale, Sr., 89 of 129 Parker Street, Rockingham died Thursday October 17, 2013 at his home. Born November 13, 1923 in Richmond County, NC a son of the late Arthur William and Corina McCaskill Hale, he was a fixer for J.P. Stevens , a US Navy veteran of WWII ,Pacific Theatre serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Rendover Bay. He was also a member of Cameronian Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his brothers Horace Hale and Francis (Toby) Hale. A service to celebrate the life of Ted Hale will be conducted 3:00 pm. Sunday at Cameronian Presbyterian Church, Rev. Wyatt Coley will officiate. Burial will follow in Northam Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Lenore Jenkins Hale of the home, sons, Terrance Odell (Buddy) Hale, Jr and wife Theda of High Point, Colon Franklin (Frank) Hale and wife Vickie of York, SC, daughters, Holly Spainhour and husband Kevin of Charlotte, Bonnie Phillips of Kingston, TN, his grandchildren; Wesley Hale, Grayson Hale, Dylan Hale, Ian Hale, Connor Hale, James Spainhour, Ronald Phillips and Amanda Knies and husband Adam, Great Grandchildren, River Phillips, Ryne Knies and Charlotte Knies. Also surviving is brother Claude Hale of Panama City, Fla. The family will receive friends 6:00- 8:00 Saturday evening at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home.
