James Mabe

James Mabe, 78, of 2558 N. US 220 Hwy Ellerbe, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Mabe was born April 15, 1930 in Stokes County, a son of the late James Everett and Elsie Lorene Mabe Mabe. He had served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, attended Saron Baptist Church and had been the owner and operator of Mabe’s Auto Parts and Garage in Rockingham. His brothers, Sherrill and Swanson Mabe preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Catherine Raines Mabe of the home, son, Mark Everett Mabe of the home, daughter, Donna Mabe Harris and husband Jimbo of Rockingham, grandchildren, Jamie Harris, Maggie Mabe, Amanda Mabe, Michael Mabe and Christopher Taylor, brother, Jerry Mabe of Ellerbe, sisters, Nancy Priddy and Alice Hogan, both of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Saron Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Stanford and Elder Don Stacy officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Saron Baptist Church, c/o Donna Kelly.
