Ruby Ferrell Terry Smith, 81, of Ellerbe, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mrs. Smith was born November 6, 1931 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Hamilton Marvin and Pearlie Jenkins Terry. She was a lifelong and active member of Rourk Presbyterian Church. She loved and cherished her church family. She was active in the Women of the Church and had been awarded a lifetime membership. A graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1950 , she was a devoted homemaker and will be greatly missed. Her husband, Alfred B. Smith, and sisters, Shirley Ludlum and Pauline Dawkins, preceded her in death. Surviving are her sons, Terry Smith of the home, Don and Mary Smith of Rockingham, Keith Smith of Ellerbe, and Tony and Nicole Smith of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Casey Burnette (Matt), Melissa Smith, Cody Smith, Thomas Smith, C.J. Smith, and Amber Smith; great grandchildren, Elijah and Eliana Burnette; sisters, Jewell T. Hancock (James) of Cordova, Hazel T. Dawkins of Rockingham, Mabel T. Moore (James) of Kannapolis, Mary Frances T. Renegar (John) of Waxhaw, Barbara T. Smith (Joseph) of Rockingham, Patsy T. McDonald (Arthur) of Rockingham; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday at Rourk Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. John Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home of Tony and Nicole Smith, 498 Haywood Parker Rd. Ellerbe. Memorials may be made to Rourk Presbyterian Church, c/o Thomas R. Kennedy, Jr., 148 Lakeshore Drive, Rockingham, NC 28379.
