John Watson Mabe

John Watson Mabe, 77, of Ellerbe, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at his home. Watson was born December 27, 1935 in Richmond County, a son of the late Gid and Dora Bennett Mabe. He was a farmer and was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hassell and Dewey Mabe and sisters, Beatrice Ingram and Irene Meachum. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Leviner Mabe of the home; son, Brian Mabe and wife Beth of Ellerbe; daughter, Tina Mabe Pittman and husband Ira of Rockingham; grandchildren, Elizabeth, John, Kathleen and Bradford Pittman, Lexie, Tori and Tyler Mabe; and brother, Herbert Mabe of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home, Ellerbe Chapel with Rev. Donnie Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 12:30 - 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
