Elsie Louise McGee Cox

Elsie Louise McGee Cox, 83, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Richmond Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Hamlet. Mrs. Cox was born March 11, 1930 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Lacy and Katie Bell Henry McGee. She attended Rockingham High School, Richmond Technical College and was a retired substitute teacher. She was a member of Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Cox, a brother, Lacy McGee, Jr and sister Virginia Conner. Surviving are her brothers, Douglas McGee of Cordova, A.Wayne McGee of Marietta, GA; sisters, Maxine Carpenter of Peachalnd, Anna Kutz of Greensboro and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Webster officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Chuck and Patti Conner, 154 Beane Run, Rockingham.
