Lynwood Boyd Gibson

Lynwood Boyd Gibson, 70, of 170 Fordtown Road, Rockingham, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mr. Gibson was born September 17, 1937 in Wilson County, NC, a son of the late Gentry Thomas and Alma Crouch Gibson. He attended Mt. Carmel FreeWill Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic with the City of Rockingham. A daughter, Gloria Jordan, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Lena Vuncannon Gibson of the home, sons, Kenneth Lynn Gibson, Worth Lewis Gibson and James Michael Gibson, all of Rockingham, daughters, Candy Lynn Gibson Chavis of Rockingham, Peggy Sue Gibson Downard of Panama City, FL, a sister, Clara Croke of Laurinburg, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Mt. Carmel FreeWill Baptist Church with Rev. Royce Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on Fordtown Rd.
