Anne Nicholson McLeod, 90 of Ellerbe died Monday February 3, 2014 in Rockingham Manor. She was born February 23, 1923 in Richmond County a daughter of the late James E. and Juanita Williams Nicholson. She attended Peace College and was a graduate of Women’s College of Greensboro now University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Anne worked with Ellerbe Telephone for 35 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Ellerbe First Baptist Church where she served as pianist and organist. She also served as pianist for several other area churches including Mt. Carmel Presbyterian, Norman United Methodist and Jones Springs United Methodist Church. On October 7, 2009 Anne lost her husband of 61 years Clifton McLeod. She is survived by her daughters; Katie Mabe and husband Glenn of Ellerbe, Lynn Parris and husband Butch of Rockingham and her grandson Rodney Mabe and wife Lynne of Carthage. A service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held 12 noon Wednesday February 5, 2014 at Carter Funeral Home, Ellerbe Chapel. The Rev. Donnie Davis and the Rev. Dr. Jim Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
