Bud Grant, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen. Bud was born August 19, 1932 in Dorothy, West Virginia, a son of the late Elmo and Hazel Lunsford Grant. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Richmond County Bee Keepers Association and had retired from McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. He was preceded in death by a son Tony Grant. Surviving are his wife, Doris Wise Grant of the home; sons, David Grant (Maggie) of Rocklin, CA, Phillip Grant (Xiao Xue) and Dean Grant (Vicki), both of League City, TX; grandchildren, Chris, Brett, Jason, Kelli Rae, David, Sean, Timothy, Azpen and Chazz; great grandchildren, Sydney and Christian; a brother, Charles Grant of Hamlet and a sister, Delores Thompson of Marmet, WV. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Byrd officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
