Thomas Edmon Cobler, 84, went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 11, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 26, 1929 in Surry County, NC to the late Aldie and Bessie Belton Cobler, one of twelve siblings.Mr. Cobler served and retired from the U. S. Army in 1975. He was a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. His passions were hunting, fishing, blue grass and clogging since retiring from the Army. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Brenda Cobler; two sons, Tommy Cobler of Ellerbe, Robert Cobler of Dubois, PA; two daughters, Jean Cobler of Hamlet, Susie Anthony of Maggie Valley , NC; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He ia also survived by a brother, Jimmy Cobler and five sisters, Bernice, Shirley, Nancy, Bobbie and Louise. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow with Military honors at Northam Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home.
