Mary Lou Shepherd Nunn, 79, formerly of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.  Mrs. Nunn was born October 7, 1934 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Dewey and Delphina Yates Shepherd. She served along side her husband as a Pastor’s wife, ladies group leader and Sunday School teacher at several churches in North and South Carolina. She held her first job at Wood’s Five & Dime, worked alongside her husband and sons in the family business, Westside Body Shop and retired from JC Penny. Mrs. Nunn was a fantastic cook who loved to garden and grow flowers, make beautiful quilts and was a self-taught pianist who played solely by ear. She was a talented lady and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Everyone and everything brought to her home was fed and nourished by her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Orian Nunn and a brother, James Shepherd.  Surviving are her children, Donald Nunn and Keith Nunn, both of Rockingham, Sandy Thompson and husband Brett of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Lacy Shepherd and Elbert Shepherd, both of Rockingham, Patsy Parker of Wilmington, Loretta Poole of Alabama, Susie Greene of Ellerbe and Rachel McIntyre of Rockingham.  Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday in the Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with Rev. Otis Goins officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.   The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at her son Donald’s home, 442 Lee Thee Church Rd.
