Sandra Kay Fann Burr Leaird, 50, of Hamlet, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Sandy was born May 21, 1963 in Alexandria, Virginia, a daughter of Jarvis L. “Tommy” Fann and Carol Chavis Chappell. She was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School and South Piedmont Community College. She had been employed with the Richmond County Department of Social Services. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and daughter. Surviving are her husband, Tim Leaird of the home; son Christopher Cole Burr of Rockingham; mother, Carol Chavis Chappell of Rockingham; father, Jarvis L. “Tommy” Fann of Rockingham; brothers Bobby Chavis of Hamlet, Mark Chappell of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Jackie Morton of Carthage and her beloved pets, Beacon and Willow. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 6pm Tuesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at her mother’s home, 302 N. Randolph St., Rockingham.
