Joseph Byars “JoJo” McGuire, Jr., 18, of Rockingham, went to be with his father and his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 15, 2014 following injuries sustained in a dirtbike accident at the mudbog in Marlboro County, South Carolina. Joseph was born December 16, 1995 in Moore County, the son of Lenae Riggan Thompson and the late Joseph Byars “JB” McGuire. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he had been active in the Methodist Youth Fellowship and was employed with Smithfield’s Chicken and Bar-B-Q in Rockingham. JoJo loved dirtbikes, jetski’s, loud trucks and anything with an engine and could fix any of them. He was always there to help a friend, especially if they were stuck in the mud. He was a friend to all and never left or got off the phone with his mom without saying “ I love you mom”. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Lenae and Terry Thompson of the home; siblings, Ashley McGuire and Meagan McGuire of the home, Caitlyn Thompson, Terry Thompson, Jr., and Alexis Thompson; grandparents, Carl and Grace Riggan of Rockingham, Mary Jane McGuire of Nashville, TN, Bowman and Irene Thompson of Lumberton; uncles, Jack Riggan of Nashville, TN and Michael Thompson of Lumberton. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Sykes and Rev. Allison Farrah officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
