Samuel Stevenson Adams, 77 of 129 Sycamore St. Hamlet, started his new life with Jesus on Sunday, July 13, 2008. Mr. Adams was born December 15, 1930 in Dallas, NC a son of the late Earl Stevenson and Rosa Morrow Adams. He grew up in Hardin, NC, was a member of the Derita Masonic Lodge, and a member of Crossroads Ministry. For more than 20 years he was employed with Sunbeam bakery and retired after 10 years with Little Debbie Company. Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Patricia Clayton Adams of the home, children, Rene’ Adams Pilker and husband Jim of Charlotte, Micha Adams Autry and husband Bill of Mount Holly, Teresa Richardson of Ellerbe, Debbie Williams and husband Scott of Wells, Maine, Betty Morrison of Hamlet, and Jimmy Clayton and wife Lori of Monroe, grandchildren, Steven Pilker, Matthew Autry, Joshua Autry, Daniel Richardson, Matthew Clayton, Jason Richardson, Tasha Lebal, Jessica Clayton, Shawn Lebal, Brandon Williams and Adam Williams, Also surviving are sisters, Shirley Adams Briggs and husband Roy, Della Adams Wise, all of Mount Holly and a brother, Earl Junior Adams of Charlotte. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thad Pierson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham, then one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home on Sycamore St. Hamlet.
