Delila Parsons Hudson

Delila Millie Parsons Hudson, 85, of 121 Mill St. Ellerbe, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mrs. Hudson was born March 3, 1923 in Montgomery County, a daughter of the late Thomas Alexander and Callie Abigail McCallum Parsons. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1940, a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church and a homemaker. Her special light went out among her loving family. Her husband, Edward Hudson preceded her in death exactly 48 years ago on July 13, 1960. In addition she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Ray Hudson of May 4, 1989, and by brothers and sisters in law, D.C. and Margie Parsons, Lacy Q. and Margaret Parsons and Roy Parsons. Surviving are her son, Stanley Rex Hudson of Rockingham, daughters , Terry Wallace of Rockingham, Bonnie Shankle and husband Dennis of Fayetteville, Grandchildren, Kristin King and husband Keith, of Ellerbe, Deidre Rae Hudson of Ellerbe Joshua Edward Hudson, currently serving in Afghanistan, and wife Sabrina of Ellerbe, and Craig Wallace of Cheraw, 6 great grandchildren, and a sister, Arlene Ingram of Ellerbe. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Ellerbe with Rev. James Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Mill St. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
