Mattie Carleen Thomas

Carleen Wadkins Thomas, 84, of Rockingham, N.C. died March 23, 2014 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C.   A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at Pee Dee United Methodist Church, Saturday at 3:00pm. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm in the fellowship Hall. The Rev. Matt Seals officiating.   Mrs. Thomas was born in Richmond County on March 7, 1930. She was the daughter of John Wadkins and Edna Davis Wadkins. Carleen was married for 58 years to Robert “Rab” Thomas who died on August 16, 2006.   Carleen was an active member of Pee Dee United Methodist Church and an active member of the ladies Sunday School Class. She enjoyed visiting the shut-ins and the nursing Homes. She was also active at the Rockingham Senior Citizens Center.   She is survived by her Daughters, Brenda Thomas Heath & Husband Rev. David Heath, of Candor, N.C. Kaye Thomas Finley & Husband Doug Finley of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sherry Thomas Jorgenson & Husband Terry Jorgenson of Watertown, South Dakota and Jeanie Thomas of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sisters Mildred Windburn of Raeford, N.C. Doris Marsh of Statesville, N.C. and Joy Johnson of Greenville, S.C. She was blessed with eight Grand Children and four Great Grand Children.   Memorials may be made to Pee Dee United Methodist Church, Rockingham, N.C. 28379, or The Daily Bread Food bank, Rockingham, N.C.   The family would like to thank Sandy Ridge Memory Care and the staff for the kindness and care given to our mother.
