Anna Earline Wiggins Callahan, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, April 01, 2014 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mrs. Callahan was born September 7, 1932 in Scotland County, a daughter of the late Herman Lee and Anna Pauline Cashwell Wiggins. She was a charter member of Southwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, a member of the VFW Women’s Auxillary and had been employed with Sara Lee Hosiery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Dewey Callahan, Jr.; children, Samuel Dewey Callahan, III, Anna Pauline Callahan; a grandson, Matthew Travis Callahan and a brother, Herman Leroy Wiggins. Surviving are her children, Karen Colleen Gilliam and husband Joseph of Rockingham, Timothy Lee Callahan and wife Yvonne of Rockingham; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and sister, Bunnie and Chris Christianson of Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Friday at Southwood Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Randy Guerry officiating. Entombment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
