William Alan Snead, 68, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Alan was born January 20, 1946 in Richmond County, a son of the late William Grady and Lois Ellen McKenzie Snead. He had served his country in the US Air Force, was a member and Elder of Cameronian Presbyterian Church, and had retired from Southern Builders. Alan was one of the original members of the Cameronian Boys Quartet, a member of the Optimist Club, S & K Hunt Club, Eight Point Hunt Club and was an avid outdoorsman.He was preceded in death by his brother Randy Snead and sister Carol Howell. Surviving are his wife, Vivian Honeycutt Snead of the home; son Chris Snead (Jenny) of Rockingham; daughter, Jill Lucas (Chris) of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren, Kelby Snead, Ethan Snead, Thomas Alfredson, Zac Lucas, Evan Lucas; brothers Steve Snead of Hamlet, David Snead of Rockingham and sister Linda Coward of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday at Cameronian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wyatt Coley officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Northam Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Thursday at Cameronian Presbyterian Church and at other times at the home.
