Edward Douglas McGee, 80, of 138 Fourth St., Cordova died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. He was born December 22, 1933 in Richmond County, a son of the late Lacy and Katie Bell Henry McGee. He was the owner of McGee and Son’s Contractors, a veteran of the US Army and a lifelong member of Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Virginia Conner, Lacy McGee,Jr and Elsie Cox. A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 pm Friday May 9, 2014 at Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Roger Webster. Burial with military honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Lois Campbell McGee of the home, one daughter Lori McGee Pike of Cordova, sons; Jeffrey D. McGee (Sandra Lynch), Randy McGee (Cathy) all of Cordova and Jake McGee (Kim) of Rockingham. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Mandy McGee, Chad McGee, Shannon McGee, Megan Cribb, Josh McGee, Stephanie McGee, Casey Pike, Hunter McGee, two great grandchildren, Cy Cribb and Cullen McGee. Three people that were like his own children, William and Bridget Greene and Crystal Goodwin. His brother A. Wayne McGee of Marietta, GA, sisters Maxine Carpenter of Peachland and Anna Kutz of Greensboro. The family will receive friends 6:00pm.-8:00pm Thursday evening at Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home.
