Kenneth Russell Edwards, 51, of 133 Fairway Dr. Rockingham, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Mr. Edwards was born March 19, 1957 in Wayne County, a son of Russell and Nancy Batten Edwards. He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Class of 1975, a member of the Board of Directors of East Rockingham Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the East Rockingham Mens Club and a devoted and faithful member of Victory Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Edwards IGA in Rockingham. His daughter, Kristy Michelle Edwards preceded him in death in 1989. Surviving are his wife, Pamela Heath Edwards of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Krystal Edwards of Hamlet, parents, Rev. Russell and Nancy B. Edwards of Rockingham, brother, Tim Edwards of Fayetteville, sisters, Diane Bryant and husband Bobby, Brenda Burr and husband Mark and Tami Rushing and husband Richard, all of Rockingham and he was soon to be a grandfather. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Edwards and Rev. Michael Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
