Maj. John Keith Adams, USAR- Ret., 95, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Maj. Adams was born November 22, 1918 in Cook County, Illinois, a son of the late Eugene Lawrence and Alberta ColesAdams. He served his country for 8 years in the US Army during World War II and retired after serving 25 years in the US Army Reserve during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following his retirement he worked as a mechanical engineer and had attended Crestview Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Nid-Atlantic Chapter, 11th Airborne Association , Special Forces Association and Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Cribbs Adams and a daughter, Sue Zann Adams. Surviving are his wife Betty Cagle Adams of the home; son, John K. Adams, Jr., of Catawba, NC; daughter, Sherry Moore of Augusta, GA; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday at Richmond County Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Kearse, Jr. officiating. The family will see friends from 11:30 to 12:30 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
