Howard Franklin Coleman, 87, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at The Hermitage Retirement Center in Rockingham. Mr. Coleman was born September 8, 1926 in Richmond County, a son of the late Horace Clyde and Nora Elizabeth Ann Goodwin Coleman. He was a member of Cordova Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and bird hunting. He retired from Burlington Industries as a supervisor after 42 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Edna Williams Coleman, infant son Howard Douglas Coleman, grandson Stanley Coble and brother William Craven Coleman. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ralph Stamey of Rockingham; brother, Horace “ Buddy” Coleman of Ramseur; special friend Margie Sellers of Rockingham and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to neighbor and caregiver Ken Allen for his caring, love and support to Mr. Coleman. Graveside services will be held at 3 pm Monday at Richmond County Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. A.B. Brown and Rev. Ronald Coleman officiating. The family will see friends from 12 to 2 pm Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1791 E. Broad Ave, Rockingham, NC 28379.
