Bobby Phillip Hornbuckle, 78 of Rockingham went to be with the Lord Friday August 15, 2014 in First Health Moore Regional Hospital Pinehurst. He was born January 26, 1936 in Griffin, GA, a son of the late Phillip and Eunice Goen Hornbuckle. He was a member of Sweet Haven Church and a Sunday school teacher and an ordained deacon at his former church, Cordova Baptist. He was a member of the Rockingham Masonic Lodge and a member of the Sandhill Shag Club. He was a retired machinist having worked for Clark Equipment and later INA Bearing in Cheraw. After retirement he enjoyed spending time as a tutor at LJ Bell Elementary School. He was preceeded in death by his parents and a brother Fredrick Hornbuckle. He is survived by his wife Sarah Collins Hornbuckle of the home, a son Jody Phillip Hornbuckle of Rockingham, a daughter Jamie Lynn Hornbuckle of Ellerbe, a son–in-law, Keith Jenkins, his grandchildren, Timothy Pearson, Nathan Simmons, Sonya Howlett, Kendall Hornbuckle and Kerra Jenkins. Also surviving are great grandchildren; Lilly, Rileigh and Aubrii. A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held 2:00 pm Monday August 18, 2014 at Sweet Haven Church conducted by Rev. Chuck McKnight and Rev. Don Dawkins. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
