David Franklin Scarboro, 85, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, September 04, 2014 at Hospice Haven. Mr. Scarboro was born June 16, 1929 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Floyd and Ella McCaskill Scarboro. He had been a member of Jesus First FreeWill Baptist Church and retired from the Richmond County Water Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Woods Scarboro, son, Dewey Scarboro and grandchild, Shannon Mills. Surviving are his children, David Scarboro, Jr. (Phyllis) of Rockingham, Deborah Allred (Donald) of Rockingham, Frances Mills (Charles) of Hamlet; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and a brother, Fred Scarboro of Statesville. A service to celebrate Mr. Scarboro’s life will be held at 5 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Thornton officiating. The family will see friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at David and Phyllis’s 779 Battley Dairy Rd., Rockingham.
